Malawi is often referred to as 'The Warm Heart of Africa' due the innate friendliness of its people.
MalawiArt.net was formed in 2010 in the UK to promote and facilitate the sale of the work of Malawi artists,
and
to improve the healthcare of some of the poorest children in the world.
It is very difficult for Malawi artists to reach a wide audience. There is something fresh and distinctive about the work of these artists, perhaps because they are much less influenced by the increasingly global world of the artists of more developed countries.
MalawiArt.net is pleased to present an online gallery of traditional, modern and contemporary original artwork from artists living in Malawi.
Artwork bought from MalawiArt.net makes a difference to the lives of tens of thousands of people living in Malawi. By stimulating interest and demand for the work of Malawi artists the local micro economies in which they live and work will benefit. But even more significantly, the profits from MalawiArt.net are to be donated to Friends of Sick Children in Malawi, a charity that helps fund the paediatric (children's) nurses and staff based at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi who each year treat 80,000 of the world's poorest children .
